Jungle Abstractions: The Lion
Violet Craft's "Jungle Abstractions: The Lion" quilt is a remarkable and visually stunning quilt pattern that celebrates the majestic and iconic king of the jungle, The Lion. This design is part of her renowned "Abstractions" series, which merges modern quilting aesthetics with intricate geometric shapes to create extraordinary quilt patterns.
What makes "Jungle Abstractions: The Lion" particularly notable is its widespread recognition and acclaim. This quilt was the very first of its kind, made from one large scale foundation paper pieced block and has garnered attention and praise from reputable sources in the world of quilting and beyond. It has been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal highlighting its significance in the art and quilting community. Additionally, the quilt has found a place in the book “Modern Quilts: Designs of the New Century” by The Modern Quilt Guild published in 2017 showcasing its modern and artistic approach to quilting, and it has also earned recognition in the Los Angeles Times, further solidifying its impact and appeal.
Through this quilt pattern, Violet Craft not only showcases her exceptional design talent but also brings the beauty and strength of the lion to life in a unique and artistic way. Quilters who take on this project have the opportunity to create a quilt that is not only visually striking but also carries the weight of its recognition in the quilting world.

The download is a ZIP folder containing two files.
The first file is the full color instruction booklet that should be printed on standard 8.5" x 11" paper.
The second file contains 32 pages of templates to be printed at 100% on 11" x 17" paper. Templates can be printed in black & white and should be printed on a dark enough setting to capture all of the detailed information on the templates.
Most home printers WILL NOT PRINT 11" x 17" paper. We recommend Staples and the average cost is under $5.

In the first 100 copies printed many moons ago, there is a typo in the Lion Piecing Order. Numbers 31 & 32 are reversed and numbers 20 & 21 are reversed. The templates are correctly numbered. The image shows the correct placement for the numbers.
These three lines of instructions are missing from some very early copies of the pattern.
